18th Annual Ohio Plein Air Society Competition

I’m new to Plein air and this was my second paint out in 2021. This paint-out was held by the Ohio Plein Air Society and held on The Columbus College of Art & Design campus. It is an open invitation to artists from several states to compete over a weekend painting outdoors from life, and it was such a fun experience for me. Artists meet to get their painting surface stamped on Friday morning and then submit one painting for a juried exhibit on Sunday. After the awards ceremony, the artwork is opened up for a public wet paint sale.

How fortunate I was to have a young couple approach me with interest to buy my oil painting. It was heartwarming to find out they were married in the same spot at Inniswood Farms where I painted. When the stars align - it is meant to be!

I also participated in a 2-hour Quick Paint which was also a great learning experience for me. I will definitely be participating again next year.
